Which Sofa Is Best For Living Room

The living room is the one place where we probably spend the most time (other than the kitchen, of course), and the sofa is the one big investment we all make. As with any sofa, it's important to choose the right style and size to suit your space, and above all, it should always be comfortable.

'For me, it is so important to be able to relax in your home after a long day or week at work,' says Luis Lopes, living room sales leader at Ikea UK and Ireland. 'My favourite room to relax in is the living room where I can watch TV after I've cooked myself a lovely meal.'

Luis, who has worked at Ikea for 12 years, talks us through his top four Ikea sofas for the living room.

1. Stylish and flexible

'My favourite products at Ikea are definitely the sofas, especially VIMLE as it's both stylish and flexible,' says Luis. He suggests adding a footstool to an already made two or three-seater sofa for extra comfort and storage space under the seat.

2. Statement sofa

If you want to create a new look for your living room, a statement sofa is the best place to start. Choosing one that is multifunctional is even better.

Luis says: 'For that statement piece in the living room, I'd recommend the FRIHETEN corner sofa bed which can be converted to a double bed for all my family to recline and relax on together.' FRIHETEN is available in a range of colours from black to dark orange.

3. Kick back and relax

But what if you want something that you can really relax in? Luis suggests a cosy armchair. 'For those that want to recline and relax in peace and on their own, the STRANDMON wing chair is the perfect piece for you,' he says. 'It allows you to really loosen up and relax in comfort because the high back on this chair provides extra support for your back and neck and has the added bonus of being the perfect chair to relax and read a book.

'You don't have to sacrifice style for comfort either as the STRANDMON comes in a variety of covers including a sophisticated dark green. To enhance your relaxation, Luis recommends adding the GLADOM tray table to the living room to place food and drink onto. 'I particularly love doing this so I can enjoy my dinner in front of the TV and relax after a long day and recharge my batteries ready for the next day,' he adds.

4. Easily customisable

Do you want to customise your sofa? Luis 'highly recommends' the new GRÖNLID sofa, which offers a 'soft, cosy and inviting outlook' with 'effortless' comfort.

'The sofa is generous in size and comfortable for everyone's everyday life and offers an embracing, sink-in cosiness,' he explains. 'With the scattered back cushions and soft seat cushions, you can create your own comfort by placing the back cushions how you want.'
